Miss Jamaica, Gabrielle Henry Hospitalized After Falling From Miss Universe Stage

Miss Jamaica, Gabrielle Henry, is still in the hospital three days after she fell off the stage during the Miss Universe preliminary evening gown event.

The 28-year-old contestant was walking down the runway in Thailand on November 19 in a bright orange gown and high heels when she missed a step and tumbled off the edge of the stage.

On Friday, November 21, the Miss Universe Jamaica Organization shared an update via her Instagram Stories that Henry’s sister, Dr. Phylicia Henry-Samuels, is in Thailand with their mother, Maureen Henry, to support her.

Dr. Henry-Samuels said her sister’s condition is more serious than they hoped, adding that doctors are continuing treatment and monitoring closely.

“Gabby isn’t doing as well as we would have hoped, but the hospital continues to treat her accordingly,” he said.

Because of her current state, the medical staff has decided that Gabrielle Henry must remain in the intensive care unit for at least a week so doctors can watch her recovery carefully.

The Miss Universe Jamaica Organization asked Jamaicans everywhere to keep Henry in their thoughts during what they called a “very difficult period.”

They also invited people around the world to offer support and encouragement, urging the public to avoid spreading false information or comments that could worsen the situation for the family.

“We respectfully ask the public and social media users to avoid sharing negative comments, misinformation, or speculation that may cause further distress to the family,” the update said.

“Our primary focus remains on Gabrielle’s recovery and the well-being of her loved ones. We kindly request continued compassion, sensitivity, and privacy as the family navigates this challenging period.”

Miss Universe Jamaica declined to provide any additional updates when contacted on Friday.

Right after the fall, Miss Universe Jamaica announced online that Gabrielle Henry had been taken to Paolo Rangsit Hospital in Thailand.

Doctors reported at the time that her injuries were not life-threatening but said they would continue running tests to make sure she fully recovers.

Raul Rocha, the owner of the Miss Universe pageant, said in an earlier Instagram post that he had visited Henry and that she had no broken bones and was receiving proper care.
