WhatsApp To Allow Users To Save Status Updates Directly To Gallery

Ever wanted to save photos or videos from your WhatsApp status? Good news—WhatsApp is working on a feature that will let you do just that.
In the latest beta version (Android 2.25.7.8), the messaging app is testing a new “Save” option for status updates. Currently available to select beta testers via the Google Play Beta Program, the feature is expected to roll out to more users soon.
This new option can be found on the “My Status” page. When you check who has viewed your status, tap the three dots to open the menu. Alongside options like “Forward, Share, Share to Facebook, Share to Instagram, and Delete”, you’ll now see “Save”.
The “Save” button allows users to download any media (photos or videos) they’ve posted in their status within the last 24 hours. This is especially useful for those who may have accidentally deleted a photo or video right after posting it—now, they can retrieve it with ease.
However, keep in mind that this feature “only applies to your own status updates”. It does not allow saving status updates from others. Currently in testing, the feature will be widely available once the stable version is released.
