Rod Stewart Surprised By His Children As He Receives Lifetime Achievement Award At 2025 AMAs

Rod Stewart was caught off guard in the most touching way during the 2025 American Music Awards, as five of his eight children surprised him on stage to help present his Lifetime Achievement Award.

The music legend, best known for his decades of rock hits and iconic voice, was honored on Monday night just ahead of his upcoming farewell tour.

As the audience watched, Rod Stewart’s children — Kimberly, Ruby, Renee, Sean, and Liam — appeared to pay tribute to their father in a moment that moved both the singer and the crowd.

Ruby Stewart spoke on behalf of the siblings, revealing their sweet nickname for the legendary performer.

“Tonight we are here as the biggest and most loving fans of our father, Sir Rod Stewart, or as we all know him, Papa Stew,” she shared.

Rod Stewart, clearly emotional, embraced his children on stage and shared his surprise with the audience.

“I am absolutely flabbergasted. I didn’t know they were here — my children,” he told the audience.

Reflecting on the beginnings of his musical journey, Stewart added: “When I started singing in the early ’60s, well before all of you lot were here, the reason I got into it [was] because I had this burning ambition to sing.

“It’s all I wanted to do. I didn’t want to be rich or famous, and here I am a few years later, picking up this wonderful award.”

Wearing a white tuxedo jacket paired with pinstripe trousers, Rod Stewart later took the stage to perform his timeless 1988 hit “Forever Young” — his first performance at the American Music Awards since 2004.

The night also saw another music legend recognized, as Janet Jackson received the Icon Award, making it an unforgettable evening of music and legacy.
