Cole Palmer Suffers New Injury, To Miss Chelsea’s Games Against Barcelona And Arsenal

Chelsea football star Cole Palmer is set for another spell out after breaking a toe in a minor accident at home.

The forward had been close to returning from a groin injury and was expected to feature in tomorrow’s match against Burnley, followed by the Champions League clash with Barcelona and a Premier League showdown with Arsenal.

But manager Enzo Maresca has now confirmed Cole Palmer will miss all three games.

Maresca explained that Palmer injured his toe two days earlier and, although the issue is not considered serious, it is painful enough to keep him out for at least the next week.

According to the manager, Palmer had almost fully recovered from his earlier injury before this unexpected setback.

He added that small toe injuries can be tricky because wearing football boots puts pressure on the area, making it difficult for a player to return quickly.

Maresca said, ‘He’s not available for tomorrow for sure, Barcelona for sure, Arsenal for sure.

‘Unfortunately, he had an accident at home two days ago and he hit his toe. It’s nothing important, but for sure, he’s not back next week, he said.

‘It can happen. I wake up many times during the night to go to the toilet. I hit my head, my legs, my everything, so it can happen.

‘He was very close. He was back with us almost with the groin and it’s very good news, and then, again, he had this small problem. Hopefully it’s nothing important.’

Noting there is no clear return date yet, Maresca said the team will cope in the meantime, but admitted that Palmer’s absence is a loss, as he brings quality that lifts the entire squad.

“We don’t know. The only thing we know is that he’s not available for this week or next week. The last time I saw him was yesterday morning, and he was without socks, without flip-flops, he was without nothing, I don’t know how to explain it. The problem is that it’s a small toe, so the contact with the boots can be painful.

“The team-mates are better players with Cole playing. I feel much better when Cole is on the pitch, and we all want Cole on the pitch. At the same time, when Cole is not on the pitch, we need to find a solution. The team is doing fantastic,” he added.
